2018 U.S. President Scholars Award Announced 28 Chinese Students Winning

According to the report of the United States World News, the U.S. Federal Ministry of Education announced on the 8th the 161 winners of the 54th Presidential Scholar Award (US Presidential Scholar Award). This is the highest honor for high school students in the United States. This year, 28 Chinese students were awarded, which accounted for 17%, of which 4 were arts awardees, including Natalie Choo, an Ohio soprano and tennis master.

Natalie, who will be admitted to Harvard this fall, will join the winners on June 25 to go to Washington DC to receive the award and display his talents with 19 other artists in the Kennedy Center stage.

The "Presidential Scholars Award" was established in 1964 by an order of the then President Lyndon Baines Johnson to select and commend the best graduates from the United States.

More than 6,500 students have won the prize since its establishment. The award was chosen by the President of the United States to appoint “The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars” based on the academic or artistic achievements of the short-listed students, starting from 2015 onwards.

Betsy DeVos, the United States Secretary of Education, affirmed that the achievements of the winners indicated that they pushed themselves to the top, and that this driving force will continue to accompany their learning journey. Devers also thanked the parents, teachers and all the mentors of the winning students.
